I just discovered you courtesy of my obsessive itunes exploring for the unique and kind of uncommon. And i've never been happier with what my obsessing found me! You are amazing! Beautiful vocals and lyrics, also such an awesome fusion of all different types of music. I absolutely love it and bought your whole cd! anyways, you are awesome, can't wait to see what else you create in the future!

Geoff - Monday, November 3rd, 2008 7:57 PM PST
Hi there! Yesterday I rediscovered all my Splashdown MP3s that I hadn't listened to in like 4 years and I rekindled my obsession with them. Then today I bought both UHP albums and, holy crap! You just keep getting better and better! I'm totally zoning out to this stuff. ~=oP

Kelly Brown - Friday, October 24th, 2008 5:29 PM PDT
I have been introduced to your music via pandora.com. I love it. I just ordered your CD off CD Baby.

Megan - Wednesday, September 10th, 2008 12:32 PM PDT
I LOVE YOUR MUSIC! I was introduced to you by a friend last night, and I bought both of your albums and 'got friendly' with you on myspace today. I rarely hear new music that I absolutely fall in love with. You make me want to dance and dance...

I LOVE YOUR MUSIC!!! I was just introduced to you by a friend last night, and I bought both of your albums today and 'got friendly' with you on myspace. I don't hear new music that I fall in love with very often. Stay amazing.

Scott - Sunday, August 24th, 2008 4:41 PM PDT
Very impressive Melissa, you are doing what you love and it is clearly heard in your vocals. I love the fusion of instruments and styles.

Peter - Tuesday, August 19th, 2008 11:42 AM PDT
I just bought Mercury and Subtle Things after hearing some of you stuff played on the local college radio station (WPRK) in Winter Park, FL. Thank you very, very much for making such beautiful music!

Misty - Thursday, August 14th, 2008 4:09 PM PDT
Awsome sound. Ill definately be buying your albums.

Cato Larsen - Monday, August 11th, 2008 7:45 AM PDT
Excellent music! Love to throw on the album once I hit the interstate and have to drive far. :)
Any reason for UHP not being available on iTunes anymore?

Big Fan From Seoul - Tuesday, June 24th, 2008 10:02 AM PDT
I've been listening to you ever since I gor curious at Titan AE's soundtrack, and decided to fall in love with splashdown when I heard Mayan Pilot...Big Fan!! Back when I began to search for your songs...I never knew where to find information on you and the former band... I was a high school girl in Seoul, Korea! Now, thank god for wekepidia. You are my inspiration. Awsome, never heard anything like you.

Kurt Wimberger - Wednesday, June 18th, 2008 2:21 PM PDT
Splashdown and UHP (powered by Ms. Kaplan) have put out, without a doubt, some of the most innovative, complex, fascinating and beautiful music I have ever heard. Will we ever see Ms. Kaplan on tour? Would begging help? :-)

Nick - Tuesday, June 17th, 2008 9:01 PM PDT
Hi, keep up the good work.

Meg and Tony - Saturday, June 7th, 2008 11:35 AM PDT
We are so happy that your music is continuing through UHP. You have such a beautiful voice and your musical talent is outstanding. Keep making music!

peter - Wednesday, May 28th, 2008 3:07 PM PDT
is there ever any hope of you hooking up with kasson again? i listen to possibilities and blue shift and i am so blown away. what bothers me is that i've listened so many times and i am just in love with your voice! there are two bands in the world which i would go to see; splashdown and wire. does anyone think that freezepop compares with splashdown? (i live in brookline and have a splashdown (the redshift) sticker on my car. occasionally i'll get accosted by some freak. come home!!!

Ian W - Wednesday, May 28th, 2008 12:51 AM PDT
Thank you so much for sticking with your music, you've been an inspiration to me. Hope one day you visit the Pacific Northwest.

Very unique, what you produce. Hope you will continue for many years to come. The music has texture and depth. Wonderful stuff. :-)

Sarah Smith - Thursday, May 1st, 2008 10:05 PM PDT
Hey, I'm from Rochester, now living in Davis Square. I wonder how your days in Boston were. I have this vision of you making a musical, between "so ha!" and "quiet use of charm" I could see something cool happening on a stage.

LLM - Wednesday, April 9th, 2008 12:58 PM PDT
Does anyone know where I can get any and all of UHP's albums online? Thanks!

s g collins - Tuesday, April 8th, 2008 2:11 AM PDT
i would like to buy the albums but when i try to go to sneakyrecords.net my browser tells me it can't find the server. i've been a fan since splashdown so i wish i could buy your music.

Your music is masterfully done. Thank you so much! Ever since Dragonfly played on Pandora.com, I've been searching all over for your music and information about what you're working on. Thank you for Mercury, Subtle Things, and Redshift (Splashdown). Also, thanks so much for making your Splashdown music available! Your music is amazingly complex and unique. It's among the best I've ever heard. Thank you!

Your sound is INCREDIBLE. "Mercury" is the most unique and freshest sounding album I have heard in a really long time (not familiar with Splashdown's material, but that will soon change). You are a lyrical genius. Your music truly takes my breath away. I highly look forward in hearing more of your music. Please don't ever stop!

Hello Mel K.,

I just received the new ep, Subtle Things. I know, I'm behind the times, but I just found out about it. Feel pretty dumb, its been out for a long time! Anyways, it is awesome!!! Your talent is beyond measure. I hope you still plan to make more UHP music. You rock!

Your work is really incredible and you should feel pretty darn good about it, Melissa. Your voice is so versatile and really adds amazing depth to the music of Jeff Oster in his new CD. Great, great work with him in that !! I look forward to any new CD's you set forth to do, as well!

~

Good luck, and keep up the beautiful work!

Dan - Monday, March 19th, 2007 3:48 PM PDT
Hola from the Emerald City! I'm busy converting the masses here in Seattle to Splashdown and Universal Hall Pass. 'Tis hardy, backbreaking labor but I shall not stop in my holy work until all the tofu-eating java junkies here are converted! That being said, I probably should get around to getting Subtle Things... oh blasphemy, blashphemy! I must burn!!!!
But before I go perform penitence by lighting myself on fire, I must say that I love your work, and so do many others here. You've got fans in the Puget Sound!

Tina - Monday, March 19th, 2007 3:21 PM PDT
Melissa, I'm so glad you are with UHP. I freakin love your voice!! I last saw you live in DC many many years ago performing w/Splashdown.

Melissa, I happen to come across UHP on i-tunes, its great to hear your voice again. I to frist heard splashdown on wber in Roch.,NY and was a fan from that moment. I won the Redshift ep, and some how was lucky enough to find Stars and Garters in the 5$ used bin at a record store a few months ago. Love your voice and hope to hear much more from you.

Thea - Friday, March 2nd, 2007 2:43 PM PST
I was SOOOO thrilled to hear about Universal Hall Pass. I have been a fan since Splashdown's Iron Spy came out years ago on WBER in Rochester! Your music and voice are so unique. Thank you for sharing your musical gifts!!!

Jérôme M. - Thursday, January 11th, 2007 3:49 AM PST
For 6 years on now, I've been listening to you, so once in a while, the tiny waterbead i am jumps over the ocean surface and I'm shouting to the world:
Reality is not always what we think it is,
Beauty is not always what we think it is,
The kindest of people are not always the ones we think.
Good music is not always where we think it is.
Never give up , you've found your own best way to make the world around you beautiful!
Thanks for your music

JP Langsdorf - Friday, January 5th, 2007 9:22 AM PST
Ever the alchemist - your music is golden. An effective panacea, too.

Never stop making music.

Brian - Thursday, January 4th, 2007 3:12 PM PST
Mel - Just got the Subtle Things... amazing! Your voice is goose bumps, my favorite female vocalist and I have a very large collection!

The remixed are fantastic and the new tracks brilliant. I think 50% is still my favorite but Sally's Song and Forms of Imprisonment are making a big splash. Major props to you on this album and the much improved sound quality since Mercury. Keep it up, you are ear candy!

Willa - Thursday, January 4th, 2007 10:19 AM PST

I've been waiting for years to see some sign of Splashdown, ever since I saw your concert on 11/4/06 in Rochester (and met you guys the next day, when I had lost my voice). I was just listening to Stars and Garters on my iPod when I decided to buy some Internet at a cafe on Ave A in the East Village (NYC), to see if I could track you down. My search uncovered UHP. Can't wait to hear it (ordered Mercury from Amazon).

Jeff Oster - Friday, September 1st, 2006 12:45 AM PDT
I still listen with awe and wonder to your vocals on my tracks.

I can't wait to share it with the world....

Oh my God! I can't believe I finally found this site and can put a name, Melissa Kaplan, to the music I have fallen in love with! You gave one of your cd's to my friend, Ovi, when you played in Simi Valley, CA - at Harmony Sweet - last yr. He had no case and did not know your name and he recently gave me the cd (because I fell SO in love with it!) and I only just now was able to rip it onto my computer and find out your name & band & this site. I played at Harmony Sweet many times (I lived in Simi Valley but I've just moved to D.C.) and I could hardly believe you made an appearance there. I believe my cd is titled, Universal Hall Pass, and it is just f'ing fabulous!!!! I don't see anything about a mailing list, but if you have one, please put me on it. You must come to the east coast - if not, I will surely plan my next trip to CA. to be able to see you and hopefully meet you. I am blown away by your voice and your songwriting. I feel so lucky to have this little gem of a cd!

I can not wait to find more of your music...you have really enlightened and inspired me. I hope you are doing well and Ovi hopes the same.

Please tell me you are making lots of money, and whatever I can do to get you to the east coast - and to get more of your cd's - I will gladly do it! You are absolutely fabulous! Thank you so, so much for visiting Harmony Sweet (you may remember Elizabeth, the owner) and I apologize because I am sure you did not play that night to the crowd of music lovers you deserve. You are a doll to pass on your cd to Ovi and it has enriched both our lives and brought us so much pleasure, you can not imagine.

Keep on rockin' girlfriend!

You're biggest fan, Linda :-)

Chrissy - Sunday, August 6th, 2006 10:10 PM PDT

Hi, discovered your wonderful voice when the song Charming spell was featured on an episode of charmed. And am now hooked :D Please never stop making music.
If you ever go to Sweden, make sure to come to Norway as well.

Robert - Sunday, June 25th, 2006 11:39 AM PDT
Honestly, what can I say that can repay you for years of great music? I have managed to track down all of the Splashdown tracks the net can provide (can't find an album here locally at *all*) and have to admit not a day goes by where I'm not in some way bathed in your music.

Universal Hall Pass shows us that you're not only continuing after Splashdown, but growing into something even more beautiful.

Thank you Melissa, thank you very much.

Heyy, I tracked you down! I was a Splashdown fan ever since I heard Karma Slave on the Titan A.E. soundtrack and was as heavily bummed as the rest of us when that band went under. So of course I grabbed Mercury the second I knew it existed. Thank you so much for keeping your unmatched vocal talent (not to mention the inspired lyrics) available to us masses.

Hey, there :)
I play bass for Hayley Taylor and bought your CD on the 13th when we performed with you. Your voice won't leave my head. It is beautiful. I loved the stripped down (vocals, piano) performance you gave that night. I just wanted to drop a line. I'd love to keep in touch. It's not often that I see a local show that inspires me :) Thank you.
Ben

I was given your blueshift cd for xmas by a fellow fan, and I haven't stopped listening to it since. You've touched me with your music and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing with me and the whole world. I anxiously wait for what is yet to come.

Seth - Wednesday, March 8th, 2006 1:16 PM PST
Melissa you are my favorite artist making music today. Universal Hall Pass is *just* as good as Splashdown. I love how you blend catchy and beautiful music with mystifying and wondrous poetry. I'm completely infatuated with almost every song on Mercury - if I had to pick a favorite it'd be Katrinah Josephina. I remember the chill I got in my back when I first listened to it in reverse. Mercury is like finally comprehending Blueshift for the first time again, an experience I've always wished to repeat but didn't realize was within reach until now. You are an extraordinary poet and I wish I could hear your voice more.

Luke - Thursday, March 2nd, 2006 8:37 AM PST
I love all of your music , it is sooo great ((ok now with all of the crazy fanboy stuff out of the way)), i discovered this all by accident , and i want to say thanks you brought me onto a whole new genre of music , i heard So Ha on a small flash cartoon and from that i discovered Splashdown and Universal hall pass , but it has also brought me onto a whole range of music i never knew i liked , i have found other bands (none as good as yours) like the dresdendolls ect.
Thank you!

Sam - Sunday, February 12th, 2006 2:42 PM PST
Melissa! You are my FAVORITE artist in the whole world. I was a huge metalhead, but the minute I heard your stuff from Splashdown, your music introduced me into a world of beautiful jazzy/electronic/bohemian type music. You are a superb singer and a fabulous songwriter. I still listen to a lot of Splashdown, and try to get as many people as I can into it, now I have a new great band to spread the word about. Dragonfly is an absolutely capturing song. I can't wait to hear so much more! I've already ordered an album along with another friend. I hope you decided to come to Montreal sometime. I'd kill people to get to see you live and in person. Keep up the GREAT stuff! Can't wai t to get my CD.

Chris - Saturday, January 28th, 2006 4:11 AM PST
Melissa, you by far have the most amazing voice out there right now. I listen to you everyday. You have no idea what your music means to me, and how it helps me get through my daily life. Thank you!

Howdy! Greetings from Japan! No, I'm not Japanese. I just live here for the moment.

Anyway. I saw the animation "Alice" which used a splashdown song. I was really attracted to the vocal quality and kept looking, to find you here at UHP.

What an amazingly powerful voice. A voice that doesn't need volume to communicate emotional depth.

Once I'm back in the country, I plan on ordering Mercury.

Breathtaking.

Hi Melissa, Just to send you Love and Best Wishes from here in the U.K. Happy New Year, and keep up the good work.
Kevin xx
p.s. hope to see you this year.

Griff - Monday, January 9th, 2006 11:01 AM PST
Checking in from Fort Collins, Colorado! I wouldn't be posting if I was not enamored with UHP's fantastic sound, stellar vocals, and refreshing creativity. Volume is way, WAY UHP!! Thank you. Despite reading collectively hundreds of guestbooks, I've never felt the overwhelming need to contribute until hearing "Mercury" (Sneaky #023).

A tiny chunk about me: my personal kryptonite is dried parmesan cheese in a can, and probably also Oompa-Loompas.

Waterweave - Friday, January 6th, 2006 12:50 PM PST
I just heard Misdirected for the first time, and I feel that it is simply impossible for me to communicate precisely how it made me feel (which is appropriate giving the lyrics.) The best I can do is say that it is like having a hallucination with a sense I don't have. I never thought that music could speak so loudly, and I doubt that you'll ever understand (or believe) what it means to me. Thank you. And while this probably makes me sound a bit out of my mind, my gratitude really does have meaning. The melody is so flowing and haunting, your voice is beautiful beyond quantification, and the lyrics really spoke to me as someone who has analyzed everything to the point where everthing is so transparent that there is absolutely nothing left to see. But apparently there is still something left to hear, because your song makes me want to cry (in a way that is cathartic of emotions I forgot were still a part of me.)

Thank you (again.)

Anitra - Tuesday, January 3rd, 2006 4:00 PM PST
I've been a Splashdown lover since I heard it on my college radio station in the late 90s. I just knew I would love UHP as well. Splashdown/UHP is the music I would make if I could make music. Keep up the great work, Melissa! When can we expect a new album?

Will - Thursday, December 29th, 2005 3:07 PM PST
Hey, I couldn't find a contact email address ANYwhere, so I figured I'd post here (sorry).

This website is not quite up to the snuff of your music. Pretty good-looking, but way heavy on the ImageReady (slices are death on render performance).

I could make it ~10x faster in a few hours, free, because I like your music. It's what I do...Lemme know...

Will

PS - Love Splashdown, finally stumbled on this site after a bit of Googling...

I am a deprived Canadian that has discovered the brilliance of UHP and cannot find it in any store in Toronto let alone anything by splashdown. I would like to buy it off the sneaky records site but my patience is as poor as my artsy clique. HELP!!

Hi all! I am desperately looking for a copy (used is cool)of "Stars and Garters" by Splashdown. Any ideas of a source?

Love your stuff. I was actually the housemate of a friend of "Jason the DJ out in LA". Pretty funny to find he mixed your voice in one of his tracks...

Continued success. Come back to Boston and sing for us soon. :)

One word:Brilliant! I have been listening to Splashdown since my former roommate introduced it to me a few years ago. UHP has just entered my life and already I'm hooked. MK-your vocals are beautiful and wonderfully layered. They always give me goosebumps! You're on my list of top musical genius' with artists such as Bjork, Radiohead and Bloc Party. P.S Please come to Montreal soon.

perfectwashu - Sunday, October 23rd, 2005 2:46 PM PDT
Downloaded Mercury from Itunes, no suprise I loved it. The shear diversity and her eerie elligent voice is perfectly tuned to the album. Once again Mellissa proves she is a truely amazing artist. Only wished she was more famous in UK

Alex - Tuesday, October 4th, 2005 10:52 PM PDT
After very much anticipation I finally Recieved a copy a Mercury in the mail a few weeks ago and it was well worth the wait. I hope you can tour sometime. It would be lovely to see you perform live. I really love the song No One. It always touches my heart. Another magnificent masterpiece

Clif - Sunday, October 2nd, 2005 12:25 AM PDT
I think Melissa is the most under-rated person this Earth, the band deserves so much more, they could change things, i believe it.

Living in Ireland it's tough so get a CD, i want it so bad :'(

Please come to Ireland Melissa, we'll make you a gig

Much Love x!

John Gibson III - Saturday, October 1st, 2005 10:45 AM PDT
Excellent album. Very unusual to hear intelligent, subtle (and in the case of some songs, not so subtle) religious undertones in popular music. Excellent fusion of "world music" and standard Western pop sound. The airy tone and lack of vibrato create a very nice, pure tone with no distractions. Nice voice placement, too. I loved your music back in high school - one piano degree later, Splashdown and UHP are still at the top of my playlist. Keep up the GREAT work! And come see us in Houston some time!

Michael Perron - Sunday, September 25th, 2005 4:50 PM PDT
The woman I've fallen in love with introduced me to your work. You have something to say, and I thank you for saying it so beautifully and eloquently.

Troy - Tuesday, September 20th, 2005 11:24 AM PDT
The first song I ever heard of yours, Melissa, was Asia at Odd Hours - and it has remained my favorite ever since. I delight in the fact that I can play your music to anyone and have them walk away loving it.

I really liked Dragonfly - just got your cd in the mail today!

Liam - Sunday, September 18th, 2005 10:40 AM PDT
the best thing about my ex is that she introduced me to splashdown and by proxy, UHP...i fell asleep listening to Stars and Garters last night.

First heard "A Charming Spell" on Timewarner's digital music station back in 2000, late at night, and perked up, "What is *THAT*!?" and have been hooked since. St. Petersburg FL wants more. I've got a dozen friends hooked on Kaplan like a drug. The squelching of Blueshift's release is one of the great tragedies in modern music.

Laura Garland - Wednesday, August 17th, 2005 9:25 AM PDT
i first found a song on the new grounds website, they used 'So Ha' for the music in it, since then i have listened to all your songs, well i yet to get mercury. and i can't wait. i love the creativity of your music, the soul touching sounds..what i love most about your music is the fact that it dosen't fall under any genre, it is compleatly its own...any chance of you touring Bristol in the UK?
wish you all the best in your upcomming achivements. Laura @};-

3 years ago I stumbled upon Splashdown, and since then I have managed to accumulate almost every single song with your voice. Your voice has often been the soundtrack for my paintings as well as for my first solo art exhibit. I had a DJ create a mix for the opening night using differnt songs from both splashdown and UHP. The whole event was a hit and I managed to get a lot of people interested in your music. keep it up. Can't wait to hear what you do next!!

we have you to enjoy through UHP. We lost you some years ago when von_Buhler recs went down and got all you music possible (the shift albums) - and now your back.

thanks for not giving in to those in power!

Heyy Mel K! I'm suuuch a huge fan of your music, and I was blown away by UHP's first album Mercury. Six Step Dragon definitely being my fav song off that effort. I was a sold splashdown fan after hearing karma slave for the first time. Your music is a complete departure from my usual love of Death Metal, you have the ability to make people cross genres! Please make lots more music soon. Volume levels up!

Oh so happy!

Been a Splashdown fan for a long time thanks to WBER in Rochester, NY. Saw them several times and got to meet the band at a CD signing in Rochester.

I just stumbled onto this website after listening to Redshift and lamenting the band's breakup.

SO NICE to hear Melissa's voice again! Keep it up!

Saw Splashdown at Earth Day in Cincinnati a few years ago. Been a fan of MelK ever since. Beautiful stuff, really.

I went out to my car the other morning to find that all my CDs had been stolen, including Mercury and all my rare Splashdown albums :( The first thing I did: I got online and bought another copy of Mercury. After listening to it for the past several months straight, quitting cold turkey is painful. At least the local radio station (WBER) has finally started playing it. Also, I agree with Mat, Eliza and Alan, we would love to see you in Rochester!

Amanda - Wednesday, May 11th, 2005 5:55 PM PDT
Hi! I first heard Splashdown a couple years ago, when it became difficult to find. But I was able to, and loved it. When UHP came out, I was thrilled and bought the cd the first chance I got, and I just can't get enough of it. =) Everyone I introduce to your music loves it just as much as I do. The vocals are wonderful, the lyrics are wonderful, the sounds are wonderful. Definatly one of my favorites. =D

Mercury is a great album. It combines some hints of Splashdown-goodness while remaining creatively original. Definitely one of my favorites.

Eric - Friday, May 6th, 2005 9:48 PM PDT
I absolutely love Mercury! I have been waiting for it since I first downloaded "Misdirected" years ago and I have to force myself not too listen to the album nonstop! I loved Splashdown, but UHP has just dazzled me to a new extent that I didn't expect! I try my hardest to get everyone I know to at least listen to Mercury, and almost everyone loves it. I agree with everyone that touring seems like the most natural next step is for Mel to tour, or at least play live at a few clubs! ;)

Jessie - Wednesday, May 4th, 2005 7:03 AM PDT
just wanted to say WOW...so hard to be prepared for the album. i thought nothing could get more satisfying than dragonfly and misdirected, and then heard the others and was, of course, blown away. i've been listening for a long while now, and believe it or not, people in apartments next to me have heard your music blasting and come over to ask for a copy of the cd...and all the splashdown tracks too. you're truly, uniquely creative and i'm grateful that you share it with people. thanks alot!

ajax rayovac - Saturday, April 30th, 2005 6:43 PM PDT
He Mel k and Brian,

i've read some great reviews of the cd. the one that cracked me up is that the album was great except for
secret agent that sounded like "Top 40" Got forbid we have success at the top 40 in the billboard chart... boo hoo, that would be so sad!LOL :)

Laura Bradley - Tuesday, April 26th, 2005 6:27 AM PDT
Hello, Melissa and Company!

First of all, thanks to you for all of the time, energy, and sincerity that was put into Mercury. It is a truly remarkable ablum, one that refuses to settle in to a specific genre and embodies a fierceness of spirit that makes it truly unique.

I believe that Melissa is as talented a vocalist as it gets. However, it is not only the voice that makes this album as special as it is.

Cheers now!

PS --> You have fans in Florida, you know...

Brian - Wednesday, April 20th, 2005 2:29 PM PDT
Melissa, I have been a long time Splashdown fan. Everyone I have shared your voice with has been hooked! I just found this site and got your new cd a couple weeks ago. I love it, can definatly hear your Le Mystere Des Voix Bulgares influances (Katrinah Josephina), then again you could sing the dictionary and I'd be in awe. I have over 400 CD's and you have the best female voice I've ever heard. On a side note I'm very glad to hear that with todays heated political issues you've kept your music seperate from whatever your politics are, kudos! Best wishes to you and thank you for continuing with your ear candy for all of us!

I bought the Splashdown discs when you guys had that promotion for existing Splashdown owners to get the word out. Now, I routinely get people hooked on Splashdown, then send them running to your new website. I love your music, Melissa, and I hope you come to L.A. to play for us. Favorite Splashdown song: Halfworld. Favorite UHP songs: Dragonfly, Misdirected, Six-step Dragon, Avatar.

Splashdown is one of my favorite bands, ever since WBER played Ironspy back in like 2000. And I totally agree with Mat and Eliza. It'll be great for UHP to play in Rochester.

Scott - Tuesday, April 12th, 2005 7:17 AM PDT
I first heard Melissa and Splashdown on a CMJ Magazine bonus CD in 1999, and I've been enthralled by her music ever since. I recommend this CD (and Splashdown as well) to everyone I discuss music with, as well as many that I don't. Mercury hasn't left my CD player since it arrived on my doorstep, and isn't likely to any time soon, or at least until there's another album for me to play over and over. Keep up the good work, and don't forget to come play in Buffalo!

Candace - Friday, April 8th, 2005 9:55 PM PDT
Where to begin...like I've always said, Mel K is the best of the best...she should know that she has blessed so many people's lives with her incredible gift of writing and of course that distinctive voice! No one compares...takes my breath away everytime! She has been an inspiration to me as a musician from her days with Splashdown till UHP...
Melissa...keep making great music and know that you are greatly loved and admired! And please please come to the east coast and perform live for us!!!

Mike - Friday, April 8th, 2005 10:38 AM PDT
Splashdown is the greatest band I have ever had the pleasure of listening to, and they will forever be my favorite musicians. I happened to be in Allston yesterday and almost teared up while driving through it. It's amazing that Splashdown's greatness, which I hold so dearly, is equaled by the greatness of Universal Hall Pass. "Mercury" is incredible, Melissa the most wonderful singer there is, and I am glad that there is still such beautiful music coming from that amazing voice, mind, and soul.

"Sometimes I wonder why God put me on this earth / I'm much too sensitive to survive."

Eliza - Friday, April 8th, 2005 6:18 AM PDT
I second the request from Mat. It would be great to see you come back to Rochester!

Mellisa is really a rare talent, a gifted singer-songwriter-musician. I have been following her music since the glory days of Splashdown, and have been impressed with UHP since Dragonfly was available to listen on the website. A loyal group of fans is pushing hard to get Mercury air play on WBER in Rochester, NY who still plays Splashdown (and even sponsored a concert way back when). Keep up the good work!

Vicky - Wednesday, March 30th, 2005 8:28 PM PST
I love this album! Splashdown and UHP are my favorite bands and thank god I discovered them or my life wouldn't be complete! Really looking forward to the EP coming up! My fav. songs (all of them I love but I have to choose) Solar/Lunar (awesome awesome song, Misdirected, Dragonfly, No One, Avatar, and Quiet Use of Charm) One of my favorite albums!

Jeffy - Wednesday, March 30th, 2005 4:35 AM PST
Sadly I never knew about Splashdown until the Titan AE soundtrack featured Karma Slave. However, ever since then, I've been rabidly addicted to Melissa's voice. Mercury is now one of my most prized CD's, and I look forward to treating further releases similarly.

Rob James - Tuesday, March 29th, 2005 9:41 AM PST
Absolutely fantastic, the only artist I've ever been able to call myself fanatical about.

congratulations on the air-play

Greetings. I have been a huge splashdown fan ever since I attended the show where they opened for the Church in NY. I have purchased Mercury and like it very much. My favorite songs are Solar/Lunar and Katrinah Josephina. Keep up the great work, Melissa.

Brian - Sunday, March 27th, 2005 6:21 AM PST
Wow, this record is amazing. It's dizzying - that's a cheesy stock word from any Spin magazine hack-piece of a review, but it really is. The eclecticism works, the dark aesthetic works, the melodies are incredible, the structure of the songs is interesting...wunderbar.

Kasa the Wicked - Saturday, March 26th, 2005 6:16 PM PST
Quite excellent. I'm planning on getting the album when possible.

alex merced - Saturday, March 26th, 2005 3:54 PM PST

Hello! I've been a big fan ever since Splashdown, and I love Mercury - I think it shows off your vocal talent very nicely. I've been writing songs and I've noticed your music has a lot of influence in how I sing. Thanks for the inspiration!
